Call Before You Dig

Call Before You Dig
Posted on 04/24/2019
Two weeks ago, we were dealing with a snowstorm, but today is expected to reach 70°, and many plants are already starting to green.

For many New Hope residents, that means it's time for outdoor planting. But did you know that Minnesota state law requires you contact Gopher State One Call to get utility locations before you start any project that requires digging.

Digging without calling can disrupt service to an entire neighborhood, harm you and those around you, and potentially result in fines and repair costs.

Contacting Gopher State One Call is easy and can be done either online (gopherstateonecall.org) or by phone (811). Utility companies will mark the location of underground utility lines. Respect the utility markers and dig carefully.

The process is easy, free and available 24/7. You can even complete the process on your smartphone or tablet and receive a reminder email the day you can dig.
