You might be staying warm this winter, but your home and utility bills may show the strain of the heating season. The city of New Hope and Home Energy Squad are partnering to bring warmth and energy savings into your home this winter.

Typically performed in-person, Home Energy Squad is now offering a free virtual home energy audit to all New Hope residents. After your free virtual visit, you and your energy expert may decide that the best next step is an in-person visit, which can be performed safely with health and safety guidelines in mind. As an incentive, the city of New Hope buys down the cost of in-person visits for residents. Free in-person visits are also available to income-qualified households.

The following visits are offered to New Hope residents:

  • Energy Saver Visit: Install energy-saving materials such as LED bulbs, door and attic hatch weather-stripping, programmable thermostat and efficient water fixtures. Normally $70 but the city pays half the cost, which means residents only pay $35.
  • Energy Planner Visit: Includes the installed items listed above plus a comprehensive energy audit with a blower-door test to measure for air leaks, insulation inspection, safety check on heating and water heater systems system and recommendations for next steps. Normally $100 but the city pays half the cost, which means residents only pay $50.

Using less energy at home saves money on utility bills and decreases your carbon footprint. If you are ready to schedule your visit or want more info, call 651.328.6220 or visit mncee.org/hes.

Home Energy Squad is provided by CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy and delivered by the Center for Energy and Environment, a local nonprofit.
