Not even polar vortexes can slow down the construction of the New Hope’s new Police Station/City Hall.

The brutal weather caused minimal delays, and construction crews are continuing to work diligently inside the new facility to keep the city on schedule to move in this summer.

Here’s a few of the latest updates:

On the city hall side, the hanging/finishing of gypsum is scheduled to be completed this week and mud/tape/sand will continue into next week. Interior painting will continue for the next two weeks, followed by installation of the ceiling grid.

On the police station side, installation of HVAC duct along with mud/tape/sand will continue over the next two weeks, followed by the start of interior painting.

On the exterior, metal coping and wall panel installation continues.

The bid plans for the park amenities, parking lot and landscaping were posted for contractors last week and the pre-bid meeting was held on Jan. 31. The bid opening will be held on Feb. 14, with a potential contract award at the March 25 council meeting.

The bid opening for city hall demolition will be held on Feb. 7 and the bids will be discussed at the Feb. 19 council work session.

Meetings were conducted this week with employees from each department to give them the opportunity to see plans for office/cubicle furniture and work space areas in the new building.
