Ribbon Cut at New Hope Aquatic Park

Wednesday was a pristine evening for a ribbon cutting event at the New Hope Aquatic Park. Local legislators, government officials and project team members joined New Hope City Council, staff and commission members for the celebration of the city’s new facility. Originally scheduled to open last year, the pool’s opening was delayed due to COVID-19.

City Manager Kirk McDonald welcomed attendees to the event, thanking the many individuals and groups who were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition. McDonald was then joined by Mayor Kathi Hemken and a number of legislators, engineers, contractors and recreation organizations who all played critical roles in the planning, funding and construction of the aquatic park.

Attendees were invited to explore the aquatic park’s many features and visit informational stations along the way.

Following the ribbon cutting event, New Hope Aquatic Park season passholders were invited to a “sneak peak” open house event.

The New Hope Aquatic Park opens on Saturday, June 5 for the season. For facility hours and information, visit newhopemn.gov/aquatics.
