Winnetka Railroad Crossing Closed Starting Apr. 26
Posted on 04/23/2021

PROJECT: Hennepin County and Canadian Pacific Railway will be replacing the failing railroad crossing at Winnetka Avenue, located between 51st Avenue and Angeline Drive. In addition to replacing the failing crossing, a storm sewer culvert and gas main will be replaced. Once the crossing and piping work is completed and prior to reopening, the crossing area will be re-paved.

SCHEDULE: Work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 26. Winnetka Avenue will be closed at the railroad crossing for four to six weeks. The affected area and detour route can be seen on the  Winnetka RR Crossing Closure Detour Map.

Winnetka Avenue will be signed as “closed to thru traffic” between 42nd Avenue and Bass Lake Road. Businesses in the area and residents who live near Winnetka will still be able to access Winnetka, however there will be a full closure at the railroad tracks with no thru traffic allowed. Any thru traffic will need to follow the posted detour.
