The fifteenth annual New Hope In Focus Photo Contest concluded on Monday night, with the winners announced during the New Hope City Council meeting. A total of 21 photographers who live, work, or study in New Hope entered the contest, submitting 31 photographs taken within the city.
A panel of judges, composed of community members with extensive knowledge of photography and visual communication, evaluated each photograph based on its subject matter, composition, technical quality, and overall impact. Winners were selected in four categories: People, Places, Wildlife & Nature, and Events & Activities. There was also a special youth photography category for photographers under the age of 18.
In December, community members had the opportunity to vote online for their favorite photo in the People's Choice category, with a total of 181 votes cast.
The winners in each category are as follows:
People: "Splish Splash" by Molly Sanborn
Places: "Northwood Park Path" by Dack Nehring
Wildlife & Nature: "Endangered" by Tom Christensen
Events & Activities: "Boo" by David Christensen
Youth Photographer: "Hoppy to be Alive" by Poppy Sanborn
People's Choice: "Rising Fog" by Jacob Miller
The winners received award plaques, and their photographs are now displayed digitally at New Hope City Hall. Additionally, the winning images will be featured in the upcoming issue of In Touch.
