At the September 23 city council meeting the City of New Hope presented the Feasibility Report and conducted a public hearing for the proposed 2025 Infrastructure Improvement Project. The city council then accepted the Feasibility Report and authorized the preparation of plans and specifications at the October 28 council meeting. This project will begin in the spring of 2025. A map of the affected streets can be viewed at the link below.
The project map identifies streets in green as proposed reclaim and overlay improvements. A reclaim and overlay road improvement involves removing the entire pavement section of the roadway down to the gravel base. Roads will remain gravel, typically for two to three weeks, while the contractor performs subgrade repairs on the road base. Streets will then be re-paved with a full new layer of pavement.
The project map identifies streets in red as proposed mill and overlay roadways. This type of road improvement involves removing the top two inches of pavement. Any subsurface repairs will then occur on the remaining road pavement. in the following weeks after the initial pavement removal, roadways will be re-paved with a new overlay of asphalt.
